Lene Burkard (f. 1945) har som kurator været forud for sin tid, og har konsekvent vist kunst, der var underrepræsenteret i den kunsthistoriske kanon. Hun har skabt fantastiske udstillinger og gennem sin forskning bidraget til en dybere forståelse af kurateringens betydning. Lene Burkard har bragt den nyeste kunst til Danmark og kurateret væsentlige udstillinger, ofte uden at følge mainstream. Hun har været med til at definere kuratorrollen og bidraget til samtidskunstens udvikling og inspiration i dansk kontekst.
